Col.Awesome: Blood Sacrifice and Second Nacher Ring

leave a comment »

Just before I quit Order & Chaos, I was PVPing with a warrior named Lochie. Since I returned, we’ve spoken occasionally and he’s now a fully equipped tank that is saving [Lava Cores] for legendary gear.

On Saturday, we ran EHL twice together. While nothing interesting dropped for the other guys, I managed to get my hands on a [Blood Sacrifice] and a second [Nacher’s Soul Ring]. ‘Twas a great evening for the Colonel!

I also ran a few PVP sessions. While some ended well, these purple pros always destroy me. Yesterday’s matches mostly ended in shame:

Preparing Doc.Awesome for Leveling and PVP

with 2 comments

I did some PVPing with Doc.Awesome yesterday after maxing out Col.Awesome’s PVP points and getting bored PVPing with Mage.Awesome’s PVE dungeon build. We played a few rounds with three monks and one warrior and dominated. In my best round, Doc.Awesome healed for Africa and got his first two kills in the arena:

I have been meaning to reallocate the point from Revelation into Mantis Cudgel’s upgrade, Staff Master, and now felt like the best time with the imminent level cap rise. Getting from 60-70 is going to be difficult for full healers, so I decided to add some attacks to my arsenal. Respec’ing a day before the update (or so we think) was probably a complete waste of money because who knows what kind of changes are coming. Whatever.

Col.Awesome PVP Sessions

leave a comment »

I completed a few marathon PVP sessions over the weekend, tabbing twice on one day for 900 PVP points! One time I played a bunch of rounds with Frkypunk and his guild mates from xClusive. We absolutely dominated– I don’t remember losing a single round with them.

During my final round of that session, we had a four ranger round, which went very well! The best part was when our hypocritical opponent called his team noobs, despite having a noobish ranking (in his defense he was the last one standing): 😉

Oky-F mispelling noob.

Oky-F pointing out the wrong noob (see rank).

Oky-F pointing out the wrong noob (see rank). Btw, nice round Frkypunk.

I had several PVP sessions with guild mates that usually went well, specifically when teaming with Deadly_Kiss and Zeref. It has been good fun!

Col.Awesome: Dungeons and PVP

leave a comment »

I’ve been spending my PVE sessions in the Sailens lately. Providing a plethora of semi-challenging bosses and new weapons–to me anyhow– these desert dungeons are the starting point for Col.Awesome’s reentry into the world of dorks. I’ve actually run to exhaustion on multiple days like a good MMORPG geek should. It’s been fan-f#$!ing-tabulous. (no pun intended, although I did tab once)

Cold-Dark, thanks to Glaucus

Cold-Dark, thanks to Glaucus for saving it for me on one of his SPL runs.

Here are the items that I acquired for the Colonel:

Note that I’m an archer at the moment, so the sin gear goes to storage. Additionally, the [Cold-Dark] won’t replace my [Sunsaya Crossbow], but it’s good to have around for testing and the like.

All in all, ’twas a productive few mornings and evenings.

In the PVP realm, I alternate between having huge rounds and getting completely obliterated. For example, here is some of the former:

PVP Domination

PVP Domination

Our opponents were around the same level, which made things interesting. For the latter, feel free to see the previous post on this blog where I teamed up with fellow guildie Drake.Raptor and played against some elite PVPers on the AF server. 😉

I’m hoping to collect a complete PVP set over the coming months. I spent my first points on a [Brutal Combatant’s Wonderful Wind Cloak], which was probably stupid since I already have an [Angel Wings Cloak] and a [Hidden Cloak]. Whatever… at least I’m somewhat resilient now.

Random Happenings in Awesome’s World of Haradon

leave a comment »

So I finally reached day 7 on Col.Awesome. The previous day was an [Essence of Eristar], so I was super stoked to see what day 7 would be. I mean, you know, they show you what it is, but I didn’t put two and two together that the duck was my actually prize. I thought that it was a placeholder. Sadly I was mistaken– I didn’t even get the [Duck Mask] but a 72-hour rental, [Duck Mask (Limited Time)]. Jokes on me.

Temp Duck Head

Gift for Day 7 — A 72-hour duck head. I am not 12; therefore, I was not impressed.

So after running RKL the other day, I took a stab at GSL with fellow guild mates Rolph, Drake.Raptor, and ^KALONJI^ (not even going to try to type that out, even being the UTF-8 ninja that I am). We dominated, probably thanks to Gameloft nerfing the $%!T out of it. Actually, both scorpions hit me as the spiney dude, Titehelm, died and I perished. I have no idea what the drop was. Anyway, after dominating Kha-Anata like Mike Tyson vs. Peter McNeeley, I consumed a cookie and morphed into the ghost of Anata. I snapped a screenshot on my lucky iPad and I shall share it with you:

Being Kha-Anata

After destroying Kha-Anata, I morphed into him out of respect and heckled my teammates. They didn’t really care.

I did two rounds of PVP at lunch with a friendly ranger named SkyRider! He did very well the first round and I died within 20 seconds. Second round was much better for me, racking up ~20k in damage. Thank you [Sunsaya Crossbow] (btw just noticed that one of my best Sunsaya pics is up on oac-head.com in the media section on the right. ZOMG I’m famous! 😉 ).

Domination Station

PVP went well on my second round in five months.

Next up: SPL. No pics sadly since I am a dumbass and forgot to take screenshots.

See You After Labor Day

I’ll be traveling until September 3 and won’t have access to O&C.

I leave you with proof of my Grand Slam. (Btw, Apologies to my teammates who normally had much better rounds than this. It was just too good not to post. 😀 Hope you understand.)

It would appear that Gameloft did not thoroughly test this latest version of Order & Chaos before releasing it to the public. Sadly, all of these great new features are marred by the thick nasty stench of release bugs. Complaints about the black screen of death, downtime, flight point and wing issues, targeting issues, and messed up skills are dominating the forums. Half of my guild is black screened and the other half are DPS classes, so dungeon runs are rarely happening. My healer is black screened as well so I haven’t been able to explore the nerfs that people are raging about.

Luckily Col.Awesome was able to login yesterday morning without any trouble. First I checked the souls vendor for new items and to my disappointment the only new item is a mount for 900 souls. I picked up the new dailies, which are somewhat more interesting than the old dailies. I stood around chit-chatting and was blown away when Tango AOE blessed about 50 people. Tip: be careful who is nearby when you buff as you might inadvertently PVP tag yourself.

Afterward I traveled to GM and picked up the introductory quests for PVP and mounts. I went to the mounts manager first and purchased the first two mount licenses for my elf. I talked to the vendor behind him and my jaw dropped at his 2k pricetag for a stupid deer. I do not have 2k to burn right now, so I turned around and ran as fast as I could to the PVP zone. I spoke with an NPC at the entrance and he was very rude:

Aside from the glitches, of which there are many, the arenas are really cool. I’ve played many amazingly skilled teams and equally as many totally inept teams. Regardless of the outcome, I’ve always had fun. The match making system works pretty well from what I’ve seen, although sometimes you enter arenas without your partner. The arena layouts are a wee bit tiny, but I suppose that’s necessary when 8 rangers just sneak around the whole time.

I played three 2v2 matches to start out. Here was my first victory:

First Arena Victory

First Arena Victory

I came back later with three other rangers from my guild and we tried 4v4. I think our record was 1-10. Ouch.

This morning I did PVP for an hour or so with a friendly warrior named Lochie from the Champagne guild. We talked in between matches and split our matches evenly between victories and defeats. We beat some pretty solid players in this one:

Mmmmmhmmmm!

Mmmmmhmmmm!

Although they beat us twice in retaliation, for example:

Dead :/

Dead :/

The new PVP gear looks interesting, but I’ll probably just skip everything except the [Brutal Combatant’s Bone Hunting Bow] for novelty and the Monk’s [Brutal Combatant’s Bone Staff], which actually looks great for PVE.

I’m excited about the new features and I can’t wait for GL to fix the issues. Other posts to follow, stay tuned.
