Gen.Awesome: Level 58

leave a comment »

I’m getting pretty close to 60 with the General. At level 52, I decided to stop power leveling and to start learning my class. When people talked about spells like gstance, cstance, Shield Slap, and Rampart, I was as lost as two prostitutes in Vatican City (…or are they…? J/k, I’m sorry if you’re catholic. Truly I am. J/k again! Digging a hole…). As a DPS, I knew to limit my damage output when the tank’s morale was low, but I had no idea why.

To further my knowledge, I spec’ed tank to get a feel for my stances and other spells. As of level 58, I have my guardian tree filled and two points left for Lacerate and Ruthless (added crit). Here is the spec that I am shooting for, taken straight from the oac-head.com Talent Calculator Top 5:

My first tank spec, taken from oac-head.com

Once I respec’ed to tank (from garbage), I flew to GM and purchased about 20g worth of level 40+ gear in the Auction House. Afterward I flew straight to Stranger’s Roost and started questing. I stopped using Saintly Blessings around level 53, saving a stack of big ones for 60-70. Anyway, getting from levels 52 to 56.5 involved questing and lots of it. Fellow guild member Eldesta helped me on some of the quests, specifically the Burtga and related quests. Thanks!

Last night and this morning I powered through the Hanging Gardens chain. While the cliff was a huge pain in the ass last time, I managed to scale it without falling this time around. I made sure to complete the grinding quest to score a [Roaring Horn]. I powered on and completed other quests, some with a friendly player named -EVE- (punctuation may be incorrect around her name). I even came across the drowning man again; I wish he’d just die already.

This guy looks pretty suave for a drowning man. Talk about going out in style!

Of course, the main reason for completing the Hanging Gardens chain was to acquire an [Incubus] (not be confused with these Incubii), which the General did.

Afterward, fellow guild member Odysseus helped me out with loads of rift quests. Thanks to him I quickly hit 58! Additionally, I slaughtered a Doc.Awesome impostor in the Dompeii Ruin.

There is a Doc.Awesome impostor ruling Dompeii Ruin!

And there you have it. I’m in Umbra right now and should hit 60 in the next few hours. L’chaim!

As a bonus, Odysseus showed me a pet on one of his alts. Is this the coolest thing ever or what?

Gen.Awesome: Level 52 and Intermediate Blacksmith

leave a comment »

With the next update due out in days or weeks, I’ve decided to power level Gen.Awesome before the level cap rises. I was having fun leveling him, but my patience ran out. Additionally, most of my O&C time is spent in dungeons, and it sucks when everyone needs a tank and I don’t have one. So in two days I powered the General to level 52.

Level 52 Accomplished! Only 8 to go.

Gen.Awesome is now an intermediate Blacksmith as well! Foundry is my first profession under the new system, which Gameloft obviously implemented to sell their 100-point books for real money. I was able to get to 55 business points from saved [Bronze Mineral], thanks very much to a guild member for the donations (name not mentioned to save you from anonymous leechers). I needed an additional 8-10 stacks of [Normal Armor Scraps] and about 50 stacks of [Bronze Mineral] to get to 100, which cost me around 250 gold. Afterward, I booked it to Greenmont to pick up the [Handbook: Intermediate Foundry].

I’m debating whether or not to level Gen.Awesome to 60 through desert and rift quests. He still has level 20 gear, so it would be nice to pick up some stuff. Shouldn’t take too long either when double potting [Saintly Blessing (Big)] and [Saintly Blessing (Small)]: many of those quests involve grinding creatures ad nauseum.

Gen.Awesome: Level 20 and Licensed to Ride

F#cking A, soldiers, the General hit bad weather traveling back from God knows where, but he’s ready to deal with you candy @sses. No f#cking around this time, soldiers, boot camp began last week. FIDO, snake eaters.

The General dominated the mini-prince in Silent Castle.

At 1300 hrs the General received his rank 20 insignia. He wasted several rounds of bronze issuing gloves… sh!t stops yielding currency after 20. It’s FUBARed, roger that?

4 klicks north east of Bordhill, the General blew through 16 [Bond Stones] to tame a green buck. He calls her Nancy. The Top Click’s a weird mother f#cker. Thanks to (name) the Orc for the entertainment and camaraderie.

The General tamed a beauty.

Additionally, I found this NPC near the Old Oak Mine, the northern-most flight point of the Tear Coast. He’s hard up for love.

Preparing Doc.Awesome for Leveling and PVP

with 2 comments

I did some PVPing with Doc.Awesome yesterday after maxing out Col.Awesome’s PVP points and getting bored PVPing with Mage.Awesome’s PVE dungeon build. We played a few rounds with three monks and one warrior and dominated. In my best round, Doc.Awesome healed for Africa and got his first two kills in the arena:

I have been meaning to reallocate the point from Revelation into Mantis Cudgel’s upgrade, Staff Master, and now felt like the best time with the imminent level cap rise. Getting from 60-70 is going to be difficult for full healers, so I decided to add some attacks to my arsenal. Respec’ing a day before the update (or so we think) was probably a complete waste of money because who knows what kind of changes are coming. Whatever.

Doc.Awesome: 60, Master Tailor, Donations, and First RKL Attempt

leave a comment »

First of all, I am level 60 on Doc.Awesome, which is… well… incredibly awesome. Getting to 60 after that last post was very difficult </sarcastic>. Yada yada, who cares, blah blah.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

600 gold later, Doc is also a master tailor! I’ll post another speedy crafting guide soon, but bottom line is that leveling tailoring is usually the fastest when crafting gloves. After achieving master, I made a [Reinforced Conciliation Magecloth Robe] for the Doc.

I also received some very generous gifts and had some fine luck. A fellow guildie made a few extremely generous donations: 5 epic rune-gear recipes (!!!), a [Holy Healing Cloak], a [Mace of Thistlevillus Flamen], and a [Benevolence Ring]! I also won the First (not Grand) Prize in the Wikia OAC Giveaway of 30 runes! To celebrate, I decided to kick start my dungeon attempts by purchasing [Essence of Swamp] for 9 runes. That allowed me to craft the [Shoes of Devout Healer of God].

And so the equipment log begins:

Hood: [Healer of God’s Hood]
Shoulders: [Healer of God’s Shoulderpads]
Chest: [Reinforced Conciliation Magecloth Robe]
Gloves: [Healer of God’s Handguards]
Legs: [Healer of God’s Legguards]
Boots: [Shoes of Devout Healer of God]
Cloak: [Holy Healing Cloak]
Necklace: [Shadewood Pendant]
Trinkets: [Ancient Soul of the Dragons], (No Second Trinket!)
Rings: [Benevolence Ring], [Benevolence Ring]
Weapons: [Mace of Thistlevillus Flamen], [Mace of Thistlevillus Flamen]

Yesterday I ran RKL for the first time with fellow guildies LiMuBai, Sporc, and Eldesta. It went better than expected as my expectations were very low. We finished relatively fast without any full team wipes, but I let our Archer, Eldesta, die twice. LiMuBai is a mili with rez, so he was able to revive El both times, allowing me to focus on healing Sporc. Raj dropped an [Eye Of The Head], which was kinda cool I guess. It definitely helped to run with pros on Doc’s first legendary dungeon.
